The construction industry reported a growth of 7.4% in 2014 showing a healthy increase for the sector.

The figures released by the Office for National Statistics, reported the growth compared to 2013 as output in the industry reached a high of £121.3 billion.

The largest increase in work was new housing, which saw an increase in 23% compared with 2013.

The survey also shows that 2014 is the sixth consecutive year with a lift in the construction industry with the biggest increase happening in the last three months of the year.

David Lewis, Group Managing Director of Integra People, said: “Last year we saw a strong increase in the number of construction projects we worked on. It has been the busiest year since the recession hit the UK and was a record year for Integra for the number of contractors we put out to work.

"Early indications have shown that we will have another strong year in 2015, which is great news for the industry and for construction workers.”
