Forward Tipping Dumper Driver - Duties include operating a forward tipping dumper machine, and assisting machine drivers and ground workers. A Forward Tipping Dumper Driver also carries out basic vehicle safety checks.

 

Joiner - Duties include fitting wooden structures, the installation of doors, cupboards, skirting boards, door surrounds, shelving and ironmongery, cladding, and snagging work. Joiners also carry out the work after plastering - installing skirting boards, door surrounds, doors and shelving, as well as fitting door handles and locks. They work with prefabricated wood parts and other materials such as PVC.

 

Dump Truck Driver - The forward tipping dump truck is the most common machine found on construction sites nationwide. Duties include operating an Articulated Dump Truck machine, assisting machine drivers and ground workers. The Dump Truck Driver drives the truck to a destination, pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body, and dump contents. They will also inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water and all fluids and performs pre and post trip inspections. They are responsible for the condition of their vehicle. For example, keeps truck clean and in good working order.

 

360 Excavator Driver – A 360 Excavator Driver must be able to understand levels, drainage and cut and mitre curbs. Their main duties include operating various sizes of 360 Excavator machines and muck shifting, assisting machine drivers and ground workers.

 

Concrete repairer - Duties include painting, inspection, concrete repairs, waterproofing, patchwork, and maintenance. The repairer will prepare the appropriate areas for concreting by levelling and compacting the ground. This can include setting up the formwork, a temporary structure used to hold the concrete in place while it sets. Concreters, like other employees on construction sites, must be aware of health and safety requirements. The cement in the concrete can cause burning or inflammation so contact with the skin should be avoided.

 

Slinger signaller - The job of a slinger signaller is one of the most important jobs on a building site. It requires skill, diligence, and concentration, working alongside the lifting teams to provide safe direction and supervision to the crane operators. Their main responsibility is to ensure the safety of the operators, and any other workers or site visitors that could be at risk. A Slinger works in conjunction with a machine / crane operator to ensure the safe use of machinery on site. They communicate with via either two way radios, or pre-determined hand signals.

 

Groundworker – A Groundworker prepares the land ready for building. Typically, the groundworker clears the site, lays a foundation, installs drainage and other pipework, and may build roads if necessary. Groundworkers duties range from concrete finishers, drainage, highways, kerbwork, manholes and pipelayers.

Steelfixer - Steelfixers are responsible for the fitting of structural reinforcements for concrete buildings and structures. Steelfixers duties include setting out the work area, following engineering plans,using hand and power tools to cut and bend bars or mesh, tying reinforcement bars together with wire, clips or welds to build up sections, fitting spacers and supports, fixing the wooden formwork and shuttering used to hold setting concrete in place, fixing steel to concrete bases, and installing beams and pre-cast slabs.

 

Crane operator - The crane operator takes instructions the slinger signaller, who directs them by signals or radio. Crane Operators are responsible for the safe working of a crane within an agreed safety system of work. They are trained to manage and avoid potential hazards when moving loads. They lift and move heavy materials and equipment on construction, quarrying and mining sites, warehouses and ports.

 

Crane supervisor - Crane Supervisors are responsible for supervising lifting operations and following the lift plan prepared by the appointed person. The Crane Supervisor directs and supervises the lifting operation. They are responsible for the safe use of the crane.

 

Labourer – Labourer’s are the backbone of the construction industry, and act as an assistant to all of the main construction trades. Labourers work with a variety of the trades to ensure smooth running. Duties include assisting other operative’s onsite, digging holes, putting fencing up, groundworking, formworking, steel fixing, steel piling, concreting, road working, and concreting.

 

Telehandler – Duties include loading and lifting cladding on to higher levels, offloading delivery vehicles, supplying various trades with materials, doing weekly checks of coolant levels on machines, moving bricks around site and assisting the bricklaying gangs.

 

FLT Counterbalance Driver – Duties include loading and unloading containers- by hand and FLT, moving goods around a warehouse, loading and unloading goods from lorries, stacking goods in storage bays, checking equipment, unloading trucks by hand or packing goods, order picking, and general warehouse duties.

360 Operator
